Molecular Biochemist / Synthetic Biologist (24480)

Are you completing your PhD or post-doc, and looking to make your first steps into industry? We’re looking for an Applied Scientist to work on multidisciplinary projects, providing expertise (both theoretical knowledge and practical lab skills) in molecular biochemistry, conjugate-fluorescence chemistry and enzymology.

Projects are team based, with specific tasks around experimental design, execution and analysis. Key aspects will be application optimisation based around molecular biology techniques coupled with interfacing with engineering and physics based technologies.

Requirements:

• Top academic background (1st / 2.1 in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or similar) including a PhD based on DNA chemistry or synthetic biology (current PhDs must be close to finishing and ideally have a viva date pencilled in). Postdoctoral experience in the aforementioned areas would also be of interest.
• Strong approach to experimental design and execution – must be comfortable in a lab, and know how to multi-task. Must have extensive experience in one of these:
  - molecular diagnostics assay development including oligonucleotide design and DNA modification enzymes.
  - industrial projects (ideally within a pharma environment) in cell line / antibody development.

Due to the multidisciplinary nature of projects, excellent analytical and communication skills are expected. This collaborative approach in turn allows for new idea implementation, experimental optimisations and ultimately contributes to new patents and technology discoveries.
