Fast System- and Network-on-Chip design with ASICs and FPGAs

This company is a leading tech developer in Cambridge’s “Silicon Fen”, and has a successful range of software and hardware products which enable fast and reliable data connections with a large bandwidth. They have applied their technology to a wide range of commercial applications, ranging from photo-realistic gaming and VR, to real-time video and graphics processing in the media, or even large data science firms where fast communications and data transfer between researchers is crucial for their work.

They are now looking for an experienced IC Design Engineer to join their team based in an excellent Cambridge location. Candidates will need to have proven commercial experience in a relevant sector, underpinned by a top academic backing – typically at least a 2.1 Honours degree in electronics or computer science from a leading Russell Group university.

The successful IC Design Engineer CV will be able to demonstrate experience with:

  • commercial design of ICs for network-on-chip (NoC) and/or system-on-chip (SoC) applications (working at 40 nm or smaller);
  • optimisation for low-power design, including working to industry standards (UPF), ideally with multi power domain designs;
  • interfacing to hardware for data transfer, such as USB, or video formats (DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, DVI, etc.);
  • RTL development experience (VHDL or Verilog), ideally for RISC processors;
  • use of Python for simulation, verification and testing of new designs.
    Candidates should also be able to demonstrate good communication skills, and have the existing permission to work in the UK, without restrictions or the need for sponsorship, already in place.

On offer for the successful candidate is a generous remuneration package with a good range of perks and benefits. The company is based in modern offices in an excellent location at one of the Cambridge tech parks, affording easy access by road, bike or public transport.
