Hands-on Diagnostics Scientist (25562)
Housed in specialised labs and offices, this (non-university) spin-out company was created to commercialise on the existing expertise in hand-held instrumentation and molecular assay development. They are bringing together complementary technologies to build fast, cost-efficient instrumentation for healthcare and medical applications.
A key area is tackling viral infections through sensitive diagnosis – they are keen to utilise engineering know-how coupled with scientific innovations.
They are keen to recruit a Lead Scientist to take a strategic and executive role in driving PCR based assay developments through managing a scientific team. This will include hands-on lab based work to begin with to show proof-of-principles and demonstrate prototype capabilities. As a key person in the company, there are also the responsibilities to communicate to external partners including non-scientific audiences.
Requirements:
- Excellent academic background including a PhD in biochemistry or molecular biology.
- Industry experience in developing PCR based molecular diagnostic assays including launching commercial products. This could include RT-PCR, digital PCR, and qPCR.
- Ideally will have experience with regulated development processes for medical devices.
- Strong communication skills.
