This well-funded startup is leveraging cutting-edge research to develop methods for medical diagnosis which are faster, better, and cheaper than is currently possible, enabling earlier detection and improved outcomes for patients with a range of serious health problems. As the company ramps up its R&D effort, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Bioinformatics Specialist to join the team and make a major contribution to this worthy endeavour.
As a Senior Bioinformatics Specialist, you would play a key role within their highly skilled multidisciplinary team. You would lead the development of new tools and techniques for analysing data from next-generation sequencing (NGS) to yield information on gene sequences and methylation rate. This may entail providing expert insights to assist the design of assays and experiments, keeping abreast of the latest research, developing algorithms, or creating reports and other documentation.
Additionally, the role has excellent scope for career development with the prospect of taking on some team leadership responsibilities.
You will need:
- An impressive first degree (2.1 or above) in a relevant subject from a highly-ranked university along with a PhD in Bioinformatics, statistical genetics or similar.
- Prior commercial experience of method development and data analysis for Next Generation Sequencing / high throughput sequencing.
- PProgramming skills for bioinformatics based data analysis, particular with R or Python.
- Demonstrable ability in methods development in the high throughput sequencing analysis space.

The company offers a competitive remuneration package and are based in Oxford although remote work may be possible initially.
