Senior Software Engineer (25767)
This innovative company based in Cambridge is providing solar-powered electricity to over 100,000 homes, too remote to be connected to an electricity grid. They have secured extra funding for their growth in 2021 and are looking to expand their Cambridge team of software engineers with skills in data analysis. Although based in the Cambridge office, the position involves working remotely.
Working closely with the company, you will be involved in the design, build and running of Cloud-native data extraction and analysis pipelines. You will help to define and implement the platform that delivers new and creative services, as well as influence the cloud deployment strategy and architecture, including its automation and monitoring.
You would be building pipelines from the ground up, using data analysis, pattern analysis, machine learning algorithms and data visualisations. Automating the pipelines would include execution of data analysis algorithms and presenting the data to allow smart strategic business decisions.
The right, confident engineer will have solid commercial experience, backed up by a good degree (2.1 or above) in a technical subject, such as Computer Science, Maths, Physics or Engineering. They will blend easily into a friendly motivated and intelligent team; an all-rounder with a broad range of skills and experience, including:
- building software for cloud providers such as AWS and GCP and cloud software architectures such as microservices or FaaS
- Python including Pandas, NumPy and Jupyter
- experience of developing new data analysis algorithms, data visualisation, data pipeline development, statistical analysis, pattern analysis machine learning
- test-driven development and testing frameworks, as well as using continuous integration software.
You will also get the opportunity to work with the following, so previous experience would be an additional plus to your application:
- Other modern web programming languages such as JavaScript or Golang
- Google BigQuery, DataStudio, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
- Systems Integration, ETL, Networking e.g. IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS
