Mechanical Engineer (25963)
As the Mechanical Engineer you will be able to visualise the components in complex mechatronic systems. This is for harsh outside environments so metal not plastic components are the order of the day. Prototypes already exist, hence there is chance to be immediately hands-on in assessing the current design before you take it on to the next iteration.
You will need to have a good degree along with many of the following skills:
- Exposure to building and testing prototypes in a team environment
- Proficiency in CAD work, here you will be using Autodesk Inventor
- An understanding of drawing control
- All aspects of working with suppliers and manufacturers
- Some understanding of machinery design, ideally for medium volume production
Ideally you will also know how to contribute to FMEAs and tolerance analysis.
In addition to your technical excellence, you will need good communication skills, to show initiative and operate in a team. It's an experienced team giving everyone the chance to learn from each others' backgrounds. This is a great opportunity to join a start-up based just south of Cambridge, with the benefit of share options. The job will be varied with involvement in the whole machine, from developing concepts and prototyping hardware through to manufacture.
Key skills: Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechatronics, Hands on prototyping, CAD, Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Cambridge
