Broad role designing instrumentation equipment

An exciting opportunity to develop analytical instrumentation. This position will require a diverse set of skills such as modelling, ion optics, mechanical design and the practicalities of vacuum systems. But above all you are designing a product here.

You will have an excellent technical degree from a world-leading university providing you with a solid grounding in physics. You will also possess an in depth understanding of analytical instrumentation not from a user perspective but how they actually work and the techniques they use.

Some of the skills you will strengthen in performing this role include:

  • Modelling of ion optics (Simion, Amaze)
  • Physical modelling, CFD experience (OpenFOAM, COMSOL, ANSYS)
  • Mechanical CAD skills (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Ability to automate the analytical process with Python, LabVIEW and/or Lua
  • Enhanced client facing skills and driving external projects

Based outside the M25 in Surrey, this company offers an excellent opportunity to work in the following technologies: ion optics, vacuum systems, atmospheric / electrospray ionisation and mass spectrometer systems. Experience of these technologies is extremely beneficial enabling you to assist in product development.
