Developing control systems for instruments used for life science applications

This Cambridge based tech company are growing and are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join them. In this role, you would be working alongside a multidisciplinary group providing expertise with embedded software development that integrates with physics and biology. You'll help develop new instrument control systems using Agile processes to precisely enable complex sub-systems including optics, robotics and microfluidics. Your work will provide a robust platform allowing for the execution of biological workflows.

Requirements:

  • With a university background in computer science, electronics or physics, you'll have gained industry experience in software development for embedded systems.
  • You'll have a thorough understanding of programming in C and C++ in either a Windows or Linux environment. Further exposure to bare-metal microcontroller development would be desirable.
  • You'll have experience of instrumentation builds or control systems with hardware integration (actuators, sensors, ADC circuits).

As this is a multidisciplinary project, you'll be comfortable collaborating and working with others, communicating your expertise and looking for mutually positive solutions. You'll enjoy prototyping and be keen to work in an Agile process. Additional skills with hardware debugging tools would be useful.
