Developing open-source IP for next generation silicon

Use your digital design skills to bring new processors to market which will deliver great performance for minimal power consumption. You would be joining a well-funded start-up company working on the development of innovative IP blocks for next generation RISC-based processors and SoCs. For instance, these might carry out dedicated processing such as cryptography operations, or speeding up large number calculations.

This company works closely with leading academic institutions as well as a number of high-profile international technology companies, so you can expect to be collaborating with the best and brightest engineers in the field. The company is focussed on open source development, and an interest in this ethos is welcome but prior open source experience not essential.

Within the development team, you would take an active role in steering the technical direction of the product, and have opportunities to get involved across a variety of work areas such as RTL design, analysis and modelling, architecture design, device security, and tooling.

You will need

  • A strong academic background with a 1st or 2.1 in computer science, electronics or similar for a leading university backed up with good grades at A-level or overseas equivalent
  • Excellent hands-on skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog or similar for digital design
  • A solid understanding of the hardware / software stack
  • Experience in or excellent knowledge of most of the following: open-source development, SoC design, hardware or software security

This is a company that values career growth and work-life-balance. Based in Cambridge, they offer a competitive salary and benefits package, and a flexible working pattern.
