Distributed Control Systems - Group Lead (26762)

This company is seeking an expert in distributed control systems to lead a group of engineers working on highly specialised scientific equipment. With hundreds of millions of pounds being spent over the next decade, this role is crucial to the development of this company’s core capability.

This role requires both technical and managerial talent. As a team leader you will be effective at project planning and line management. You will also need to tightly integrate your planning with those of other groups within the company in order to achieve a joint goal. As a technical lead you need to demonstrate excellent modern knowledge in software engineering especially in a real time distributed control environment plus have the flexibility to learn and implement new technologies.

Requirements:

• Excellent understanding of distributed control systems (ideally the EPICS toolkit)
• Extensive first-hand knowledge working with scientific instruments for experimentation
• Proven track record managing software teams
