Technical Problem Solver (26791)
This Cambridge based company develop bespoke engineering technology (hardware and software) that are used by industrial companies around the world. Their technical support team provide a range of expert services to their customers including training and bespoke technical resolutions (this has included reverse engineering problems with in-house equipment to solve technical issues). Often, they act as a medium between customers and the engineering team.
They are currently recruiting for their next Technical Problem Solver to join the team. There’s no exact profile, but key requirements are:
- Aptitude and adaptability. The team value your academic background and expect candidates to have a 1st / 2.1 degree in physics, engineering or similar from a top university.
- Hands-on approach to problem solving. You can demonstrate experience of solving real-world technology problems. This could involve a Windows PC, checking driver versions or fixing electronic boards.
- Communication skills. The role involves working directly with customers, so good spoken and written English is expected. Experience in a customer-facing role (even if not technical) would be highly desirable. Similarly, competence of another language would be advantageous.
- Professionalism. Good time management skills and attention to detail is important. You should be organised and methodical in your approach, documenting as required.
- Able to travel. As customers are based around the world, some international travel is required which can mean a day or several days out of the UK.
Further technical understanding / experience of: (1) programming languages (C++, C# or Python); (2) using hardware test equipment (oscilloscopes / DVM); (3) digital printing technology would be beneficial.
The role is open to graduates to experienced technologists / engineers who can meet the requirements. Your CV should support and evidence this.
