Senior Multidisciplinary Scientist (26939)
You’ll likely have an electronics or physics degree and subsequently gained experience within molecular biology; or gained a first degree in applied biology and then worked on applications around life science instrumentation and hardware. As a multidisciplinary scientist, you’ll be able to converse technically with engineers, physicists and biologists – know how to handle RNA samples, align optical laser modules and understand how microcontrollers work.
Joining this growing company, you’ll provide hands-on expertise in rigorous technology testing for data-driven optimisation and development. You’ll understand how applied chemical products work with molecular biological samples within a hardware-based instrument. You’ll lead new projects, create new business opportunities as well as mentor junior scientists within the team.
Requirements:
- Applied STEM degree and ideally a PhD in molecular biology or biophysics.
- Demonstrable experience with RT-PCR development / applications. Must have expert knowledge of how PCR technologies work (from fundamentals to next-generations application areas).
- Experience with prototype instruments with an applied biological function.
As a scientist, you’ll understand experimental design and analysis, have a meticulous approach to experimentation and prototyping, good communication skills in order to quickly converse with a multidisciplinary team, and understanding how to deliver projects. Additional exposure to computational analysis using Python and broader concepts in point-of-care diagnostics would be desirable.
