Engineering Group Lead (27047)
Working closely with other group leads, this onsite based Engineering Group Lead will take responsibility for all hardware design and development for the megavolt pulsed power drivers. This will include capacitor charging, switching, transmission lines and diagnostics. The designs need to be robust as it is part of a wider range of prototype technologies.
As Engineering Group Lead, you will contribute to the overall strategic direction of your group’s projects, line manage scientists and engineers, and provide key technical expertise (on both the engineering and scientific sides). Your everyday work could also consist of hands-on computational modelling / simulations, design analyses, and support / training of the technical team.
Requirements:
- Having graduated with a degree in physics (or applied electronic engineering), you will have gained expertise, project experience and knowledge of electromagnetics (including demonstrable projects in related simulation modelling of megavolt applications).
- You will be able to perform essential calculations and associated analyses for electrical engineering.
- You’ll understand the health and safety procedures around high pulsed power systems.
- You’ll have exposure to project management processes (ideally within a scientific environment).
You’ll have taken up a leadership role, know how to assign tasks within a group whilst still maintaining technical expertise to undertake projects when required. Strong communication skills are therefore expected.
