Multi-language development with large real-time datasets

This well-established and friendly Cambridge based team are primarily responsible for developing data monitoring tools ensuring their global company can operate at peak efficiency all year round. These tools are used by a large internal support team to troubleshoot and problem solve issues reported by any of the hundreds of clients who rely on their core services. Your work will have real impact on the quality of support that can be offered which in turn has a direct effect on client satisfaction and, ultimately, profitability.

From a technical perspective you will be working with large, real-time datasets creating secure tools and services in a modern development environment utilising microservices and Docker. You will also be supporting and updating existing tools, some of which are beginning to show their age. Therefore, a flexible and pragmatic approach to languages and frameworks is important.

Requirements:

  • Top degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or similar
  • Demonstrable experience developing web tools gained through previous work, internships, or substantial academic projects
  • Working knowledge of multiple web-based languages including both modern languages such as JavaScript (Node) and Python as well as legacy languages such as PHP
  • Good general understanding of modern software development including OOP design, software testing, security best practices, and project management
