Software Engineer - Compilers (27270)
Now in the process of scaling up their business, this health-tech start-up is pioneering their patient-focussed approach for providing personalised treatments. With their product concept now proven the company are keen to grow their Cambridge-based development team
This key aspect of this role is the development of a domain-specific language and associated compiler; however, as the company is at an early stage the successful candidate will need a second string to their bow. This could be expertise in areas such as kernel level Linux development, back end development using Python (it’s not a simple back end, so it would need to substantial experience), or even experience developing complex web app UIs using JavaScript frameworks.
Joining this small but growing team, you will have involvement across the technology stack and work in collaboration with other software engineers from different specialisms, colleagues from a healthcare background, and end users to ensure the company builds the best product possible. You will have influence on future technical direction, and with shaping the way the team works.
You will need:
- Expertise in compiler development: parsing, abstract syntax trees (ASTs), domain-specific languages (DSLs) etc.
- Hands-on experience developing code close to or within the Linux kernel level
- Coding skills in Rust, or a functional language such as OCaml
- Full existing and unrestricted right to work in the UK without sponsorship
Any of the following would be a plus point:
- Software development in a regulated industry (especially medical/healthcare)
- Real-time web communication technologies
- Development of iOS or Android applications using TypeScript together with React.js, Solid.js or similar.
- Development of complex (lots of processing) back end code using Python
Improving the lives of countless people, working on challenging problems and joining a growing start-up at a pivotal time, this will be a great career opportunity. A competitive salary and benefits package are on offer to the successful candidate.
