Supporting the adoption of Open Source technologies

A flexible role for a skilled Linux Kernel Developer who enjoys using Open Source technologies, offering remote work and client-facing opportunities. This is a position requiring technical expertise with Linux Kernel development, integration and deployment, along with enthusiasm for helping clients successfully deliver their projects.

With a deep understanding of Linux core systems technologies, you will be able to represent one of the industry leaders in Open Source software at conferences and trade shows. Your insight and experience will help you assess clients’ needs and design appropriate solutions leveraging a wide range of Open Source technologies, whilst your input will be valued by the internal delivery team. In addition, your public contribution to Open Source projects will cement your reputation for technical leadership.

Skills and experience required

  • Linux kernel and kernel module development, Linux driver development, cross-compiling and porting
  • Good experience and understanding of Open Source development methodology and practices, as well as significant contributions to the Open Source Linux Kernel community
  • The ability to quickly get up to speed with the company’s services, business model, project delivery life cycle and other related technical domains
  • Effective trouble-shooting skills and client-facing experience
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal) as well as the ability to comfortably work in a fully online and distributed team
  • Full rights to work in the UK without time limit or sponsorship will also be required

Additional desired experience

  • Linux distribution package development/management (Debian, Yocto...) is a nice to have
  • Exposure to Continuous Integration environments (GitLab, kernelci.org...) is a plus
