A mathematical client-facing role, with opportunities for career development

A Product Analyst position which may suit a mathematically minded teacher or project manager, ready for a career change. Our client develops advanced optimisation tools for portfolio management for the energy sector. They seek candidates with excellent communication skills and numerate backgrounds, to join their growing team of specialists.

The role would involve becoming adept with and showcasing the modelling software to clients, whilst getting an in depth understanding of the needs of each business and assisting them to reap the benefits of the product. This might involve preparing reference or training materials, answering technical inquiries or helping to develop useful new features. In the future, there could also be opportunities to take on project or product management duties, or to be involved with business development.

A background in modelling and optimisation would be useful, as would familiarity with the software development process.

You would need:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, evidenced by previous client-facing experience as a communicator of technical concepts
  • Impressive academic background, including a degree (2.1 or above preferred) in maths or similar numerate subject
  • Demonstrable skills modelling in Excel and possibly familiarity with Python or Java
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to propose and test hypotheses, and work systematically to identify root issues amongst the details of intricate models
  • Full existing rights to work in the UK without time limit
