Senior Software Developer (27321)

Grow into full-stack development, building on your server-side web skillset

This successful startup are looking for a talented back-end web developer, ideally using Python and Django, who already has an eye towards a good user interface, and would like to develop their skills in TypeScript / JavaScript and component-based UI libraries and frameworks, the likes of SolidJS and React.

The company are in health-tech and produce apps used by patients as part of a guided programme developed by medical professionals. Their tech stack includes Rust, Python and Django plus TypeScript and SolidJS. They also use compiler technology for an integral DSL.

You will bring:

  • Good back-end, server side skills using a language such as Python and a framework such as Django. Adaptable candidates with a similar skillsets developed using other languages will also be considered.
  • Experience with a range of programming languages for projects of some scale, and ideally web frameworks/libraries with different levels of opinionation – and your own views on those.
  • Experience developing large scale production web applications, serving volumes of users.
  • A user-focused mindset which shapes your existing development work, and would influence your interest and attention to front end development. An awareness that look-and-feel contributes to usability, and the desire to get things “just right” through iteration and following design plans closely.
  • An interest in being part of a multi-skilled team, applying your skills to a range of technical areas towards a common goal.

Any additional experience you have developing mobile apps (iOS and Android, whether hobbyist or professional, native or progressive), in startups, in the medical/healthcare sector, with WebRTC or similar, with Rust, compiler technology or DSLs would be welcome.

Full existing UK work permission is required, without sponsorship or time-limit. The role is based in the company’s west Cambridge offices, commutable by car, with a weekly day of home working plus additional occasional days from home. A competitive salary and package is available to the right candidate.
