Senior Electronics Engineer (27333)
This company is looking for a bright electronics engineer with commercial experience who can work across the whole development process from initial concepts through to managing fabrication and assembly subcontractors. Your work will be varied but you will need to demonstrate core skills in PCB design, FPGA development and software development. Outside these core technical skills you will need strong communication and presentation skills as this is a customer facing role.
This company works in the defence and security industries primarily on cybersecurity, communications and data processing projects. These often entail highly customised hardware designs featuring complex PCBs, RF circuitry, and FPGAs. Their work also utilises a lot of custom software which will primarily be written by their equally talented software engineers, and you will be involved in writing firmware, drivers and embedded code.
Note: As this company is in the defence and security industries, candidates must qualify for Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. This requires you to be a British citizen and for one of your parents to also be a British citizen. Dual nationals will be considered but you should be prepared to relinquish your non-British nationality.
As part of this role, you will be in meetings with clients and customers, presenting your work and providing technical input. You will therefore need to be a confident communicator and mentally sharp, able to provide analysis of potential projects with limited information and while under pressure. It is for these situations that a strong and broad background in STEM is required and this company will be looking for candidates with As and A*s at A Level as well as a top degree. PhDs are also welcome.
Being a well-established company, you will be working alongside other well qualified and experienced engineers with plenty of opportunities for you to continue growing your own expertise and to mentor more junior engineers. Due to the nature of the work and the need to use laboratory equipment there is no home working available in this role; however, they do support flexible working and condensed hours or part time work is possible. Other benefits include a generous employer contribution pension scheme, an EV car scheme and subsidised gym membership.
