Starting in 2008 ecm have produced an annual Report based on an in-depth survey of the salaries and benefits offered by their clients. The last full Report was published in January and provided a guide to job offers competitive at that time. During 2017 ecm are also offering quarterly updates on the state of the high-tech recruitment market.
The Q4 2017 Update
Referring to October data the latest IHS Markit/REC Report on Jobs notes a further marked decline in the availability of candidates, despite the number of vacancies continuing to increase. It notes that EU workers are leaving because of the uncertainties over Brexit, and calls for clarity about the form of future immigration systems [good luck with that].
The decline in suitable candidates has inevitably led to an increase in starting salaries, which are increasing at the second-fastest rate since November 2015.
That certainly chimes with our experience at ecm. Not long ago it was uncommon to see graduate starting salaries in the £30k+ region, or hands-on engineers commanding £70k+. No longer.
Please contact ecm for details of our annual report. The 2018 report will be compiled next month.
